Allen Heritage Village
The Allen Heritage Village occupies several acres on St. Mary Drive in Allen, Texas. The site preserves multiple historic structures including homes, churches, and storehouses that have been relocated and restored. The park allows visitors to learn about Allen's history through interpretive exhibits and hosts open houses. Three churches at the facility are available for rent for weddings and special occasions.
Background of Allen Heritage Village
The project began in 2002 with restoration of the St. Mary Baptist Church. The Allen Heritage Guild acquired additional land to create a village-like setting where structures from historic Allen neighborhoods could be moved and preserved. The Community Development Corporation provided funding, with the initial phase completed in September 2002.
During 2003, additional structures were relocated and master plans developed. In 2005, an architect created restoration designs for two bungalow houses and Allen Christian Church, with exterior work finishing in summer 2008. The Collin County Master Gardeners Association, Allen Heritage Guild, Allen Garden Club, and the City of Allen collaborated on landscaping efforts. The Lane–Carroll farmhouse restoration continues as part of ongoing improvements.
